Orrin Woodward, in June of 2004, gave one of his most accaimed talks. Recordings of the speech continue to sell nation-wide, and we thought it would be worthwhile for readers of this blog to have some highlights:
"Every day that God gives you is about growth."
"Every time you want to move on, it requires growth."
"Leaders must grow in three areas: 1. competency 2. character 3. courage. Competency means becoming good at what you do. To become a leader, one must first become a performer. Character asks if you do the right things for the right reasons. Do those closest to you respect your integrity? And finally Courage refers to your ability to marshall the guts to get the job done, no matter what."
"If you're not doing thigs this year you couldn't or wouldn't do last year, then you're not living courageously and you're wasting your gifts!"
"Keep the main thing the main thing, make your business your masterpiece, and eliminate any distractions in the way. That's how a leader succeeds!"
It's easy to see from these short excerpts why Mr. Woodward has so much success. His comments are bold, controversial, and proven to work! They are bold because he makes no excuses for his dedication, commitment to what he belives in, and focus. They are controversial because not everybody believes or agrees with these principles; there are those who prefer mediocrity to performance. And they are proven to work because Woodward has the results to go along with his teaching.
